abstract = "Wide field of view sensors allows to adequately timely monitoring
forest and agricultural areas, and increase the probability to
cloud free scenes. Thus, we are committed to evaluate the
differences of bidirectional surface reflectance as a function of
the acquisition hours. For that, we defined a study area
comprising the Misiones region (Argentina) and the Parque Estadual
do Turvo (Brazil). We used daily data from Moderate-Resolution
Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard Terra and Aqua satellites
(MOD09GA e MYD09GA). The MODIS products were processed using the
Google Earth Engine. The original data were filtered to mask low
quality and cloudy pixels throughout the period of 2000-2016. To
evaluate the acquisition hour effect, only data acquired at nadir
(±5° in the forward scattering and backscattering directions) were
used. For each pixel, we calculated the series average for each
MODIS band and derived the vegetation indices: NDVI and EVI. The
results demonstrated that red band did not present clear
differences between Terra and Aqua MODIS sensors reflectance.
Conversely, the near infrared allowed monitoring the annual cycle
of the forest and solar zenith variation. By contrasting the near
infrared bands, a positive linear adjustment was obtained for
Terra and Aqua. The red band did not present correlations.
Considering the vegetation indices, the NDVI presented high
dependence on red band. The EVI covariate more with the near
infrared band as expected, and allowed to evaluate the annual
                         dynamics of the forest.",
